CALL FOR PAPERS, POSTERS, AND OTHER TYPES OF PRESENTATIONS

Since 2005, the Hawai‘i-Pacific Evaluation Association (H-PEA) has provided opportunities for evaluators and those interested in evaluation to share with and learn from each other. H-PEA invites you to participate in one or more of the following opportunities at the 2019 conference (Friday, September 20, 8:00 am-4:00 pm):

- Demonstration

- Ignite Session

- Paper Presentation

- Poster session (Chance to win cash awards)

- Roundtable (Work-in-progress/Issue & discussion)

- Symposium

To meet the demand for hands-on presentations we will be holding separate sessions for demonstrations and roundtable discussions and encourage proposals for these types of presentations.

Those interested should submit the online proposal submission form that will be peer-reviewed by a conference committee. The review committee will judge proposals on the following points:

a) relevance to the field of evaluation

b) implications for evaluation theory or practice; and

c) value to the conference attendees.

Proposals for All Types of Presentations

Submit a proposal using this online Proposal Submission Form. This form requires a title, abstract, format, summary, relevance statement, theme, and intended audience. Proposals should detail the focus of the presentation, the way(s) in which it is relevant to the field of evaluation, and value to the audience.

Important Dates

Proposal Submission deadline: 5:00 pm, June 14th, 2019

Notification of acceptance: July 31, 2019 (via email)

PRESENTATION FORMATS

Demonstration--Demonstrations are formal 30 to 60-minute presentations that show how to use or apply an evaluation concept or tool. The abstract should describe how the presenter will walk attendees through a clear, step-by-step explanation of the concept or tool, how it compares to other Hawai‘i-Pacific Evaluation Association 2019 Conference 2019 H-PEA Conference Presentation Proposal Submission Form evaluation concepts or tools, its strengths and weaknesses, and how it can best be applied.

Ignite Session--the presenter presents 20 slides in 5-minutes. The slides will automatically advance

every 15 seconds. Ignite presentation is short but takes time to do well. For tips and help, contact

Monica Stitt-Bergh, our skilled ignite session presenter, at bergh@hawaii.edu. See training offered

by American Evaluation Association.

Paper Presentation--approximately 20-minute presentation; one of three presentations in a 75-

minute session.

Poster--A 60-minute general poster session.

Roundtable-- 60-minute discussion; an opportunity to share a work in progress or an issue/concern. Roundtable presentations typically include a short presentation, followed by discussion and feedback. Roundtable presenters should bring targeted questions to pose to others at the table in order to learn from and with those attending. Roundtables are an ideal format for networking and focused discussion on a particular topic, including work-in-progress. The abstract should detail the focus of the presentation, the targeted questions that will be posed, and the way(s) in which it is relevant to the field of evaluation.

Symposium--75-minute session on a particular topic or theme involving prepared remarks, debate, and/or discussion by 3 or more presenters.
