ABOUT H-PEA

H-PEA is organized exclusively for educational purposes. As a charitable organization, H-PEA has tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions. H-PEA was established by numerous evaluators working in private businesses, non-profit organizations, and private and public schools (elementary to graduate level). H-PEA is the official local affiliate of the American Evaluation Association (AEA).

Organizational history

In June 2005, a survey was sent to members of the evaluation community to ascertain interest in forming a local evaluation association in the Hawai'i-Pacific region. A volunteer group of evaluators developed a petition to AEA for official affiliate status. A petition, signed by 29 evaluators, was approved by AEA, October 2005, in Toronto, Canada.

On September 8, 2006, H-PEA held its inaugural conference in Waikiki attended by 69 evaluators and graduate students. H-PEA received congratulatory letters from AEA, ANZEA, PREL, and the University of Hawai'i.
